Mike Canich found a pen that I have been looking for for like 5 years. Called the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen. Can only find at Wet Paint in St. Paul MN. I ordered one and played with it. Fellet compelled to go back to realism which I didnt like so I simple started wandering with the pen, thus ended the hand of this guy. Such a different feel for me from my normal static line work.
I love the Pentel brush pen. I happen to live about a mile from Wet Paint, which is pretty awesome. They really responded to all the local cartoonists and illustrators who're after special stuff. They have a great selection, from really great japanese stainless steel nibs, gocco sets, and lots of brush pens. I got the
ReplyDeletekaimei brush pen from there a while ago- it was like $45 but it's awesome. The ink is water soluble though, which sort of sucks, but you can get really precise lines. The pentel, I end up using for really thick brush lines but not so much fore detail.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful page, Chris. The dynamic bruh line works well with your style. I use a pentel brush pen for most of my inking.
ReplyDeleteI use a Pentel but i... dip it on a inkwell cause that ink sucks.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, a more organic brush line makes your stuff look even better than usual, i hope you keep experimenting with it.
