Medieval panel
Hey!
as it's on good way to be finish i can show you this almost at the end, most of the work now won't be very visible on picture (its about glazing the surfaces)
that is my best attempt to get back to painting, with more figurativ work than i was doing years ago. Technically it's very close to flemish painting, means working on woodboard with homemade pigments and medium which is oil+resin (sandarac)
then i ry to stay in the renaissance type without going to realistic, more or less

The 3rd generation on the 9th Island
Some days ago, i started working on a new chapter of The 9th Island. This will be called 'The Cape of Fools'.
I did not think of it at first, but i find myself taking pleasure in having my characters aging and introducing younger generations. It was kind of inescapable in my biography of Hieronymus Bosch, but now it comes naturally. Probably because that is what it is, natural. Yes it does happen sometimes in comics, but rarely.

RIP Carlos Nine
Apart from this notice by Paul Gravett I've seen very little mention of his passing. Which is sad because he had some of the most impressive ability in comics from the last few decades, Only his Dungeon book got an English translation and I've been hoping for more for years. It's a shame about Jack Davis (who I also loved) but c'mon comics people, why didn't you make a bigger fuss over Carlos? (I mean a bigger fuss in general, not that I think he deserved a bigger fuss than Davis)

Don't fear crab's attack
This one was inspired by a record cover I like (not so much for the record) "Crab society north" by S.O.D.

I have been neglecting my EBD lately. Here's some bad phone pics to show i haven't not been employing my questionable skills:
1-4: some concept/mood sketches for an as-yet-undisclosed project
5/6: i don't usually use a brush to draw but i do understand the lure of its swoop & sweep & swagger; i can see how you wouldn't want anything else once once you got into it
7: installation view of an exhibition featuring pages from my Half Blood comic
8: some pointless doodling

Meet the Duckface Brothers
Trying to come up with some fun secondary characters for the follow-up story in my The 9th Island cycle. I don't know if it is going to make sense to use these guys. We'll see. For now, they are on the cover of sketchbook #58.

logos
I tried to make some logos for various metal related crew, first one is still with no answer after 6 months, second is the first i have been paid for but the crew didn't want it, and next 2 ones were on challenge but largely failed for digital works benefit. So I think I wont attempt anymore. Here's one of the last 2 that i changed a little so its not spefically meant now
Then I also tried to work back on linen, i have not so much left so i first tried with little ones. Usually this is large like 2 meter / 2.5 meter. Here's half or quarter of this, and the blue one is made on 70x100cm paper leave.. Also want to break with tiny lines and work with big tools, fat pincels and roller painter.

Sex in the jungle!
Ah shoot, we just missed it.
This is where yet another episode of my 'Islands' story starts. This is a kind of prequel (their oldest daughter is not born yet), entitled The Upside Down Island, which will explain the how and why of Kali's cannibalism. Some new characters will be introduced in an exchange of half-truths, somewhat inspired by Kurosawa's Rashomon.
