DEFINITE NICK BLINKO/CRASS RECORDS FEELING ON THESE ONES. I'M DIGGING, BUT I WANT MORE! MORE WEIRD. MORE DISTURBANCE.

"I love your stuff... i see Gahan Wilson & Nick Blinko in it."
"p.s! i can also see some nick blinko (of the rudimentary peni) vibe goin' on.."

Now I'm thinking how to handle with this. I am not under influence of Nick Blinko artworks and I'm not even familiar with his as an artist [after these opinions I have searched for some information but that's all].

I can find the only explanation that "you find [in the objects you look at] the things you are familiar with in the past". kind of net. It's elementary to me to know, that it's hard to invent something new, and lots of artworks are just kind of combinations of different elements of visual expressions that was founded before, but in my opinion, behind my artworks is some individuality which i want to be observed, and for me,probably, it is seen more worth to speak about the specificity, possibilities of improvement, in opposite just mentioning the other artists you think i am similar to.

no offences! just trying to build up something in my mind, maybe it is my stressful reaction while comparing.

There are many shapes I like in these drawings. I guess it is deliberately courageous that you fill them with straight lines… Which works very well when you describe flat surfaces. From my opinion you should try curvier crosshatchings and as well all sort of textures.

I think we used only a very small quantity of all possible shapes which is innumerable. We select the ones we prefer (not only for cultural matters).

SHALTMIRA, I GET THE FRUSTRATION ABOUT COMPARISONS TO OTHER ARTISTS... I DON'T NECESSARILY THINK IT'S USEFUL EITHER, BUT TO ME, NICK BLINKO AS A REFERENCE POINT IS MORE LIKE A CULTY OR SECRET CLUB REFERENCE POINT, NO ONE KNOWS HIS WORK & IT'S LIKE A... I DON'T KNOW. ANYHOW, IT'S MEGA CULT. SO... ANYHOW, ALSO, PEOPLE WILL COMPARE, IT'S JUST WHAT HAPPENS. I WOULD CHECK OUT NICK BLINKO'S STUFF EITHER WAY. HE'S A GENIUS.

Sean, I'm glad you mentioned him atleast once because it was the first time I had heard of him. I was familiar with the name of his band but I checked them out and I added them to my wishlist. He does wonderful poetry too.

I agree with Gaiihin about suggesting linework with contours and perhaps interweaving linework, but I would understand if you wanted to keep it flat and scratchy if you want to keep the abrasiveness.

with this i didn't meant to say that i think you're under the "influence" of mr. blinko, but more that i get a similar vibe from your drawings which i also get from ol' nicks artwork. this is actually meant as a compliment, since nick blinko has been one of my absolute favorite artists since 1982.

Great drawings, Shaltmira.
For what it's worth, I think sometimes it might be better not to shade objects (like the woman's arm for example) from all sides and think about lighting a bit more. I'm fully aware that you're not going for a realistic depiction, but it could give the images more depth.
Also, what Gaspard said about lines and crosshatching.
