Bestiarium 2nd edition
This is a sample from my Bestiarium book, printed in 2008 by Le Dernier Cri and which I am now revising for a reprint. The colours will look quite different from the silkscreened version, more subdued - although I think each approach has its charm. I am thinking of printing it at home. The advent of the ink jet printer has returned the Gutenberg vibe that I used to feel while xeroxing zines in the eighties and early nineties.
Labels:

Hello All, Please bare with me.
I've been graced with the opportunity to contribute by some collaborators who saw my paintings on Flickr.
I am old school- in very few ways am I a friend of abundant technology, so my pictoral introductions may be laughably small in scale as per my skill with computers, but who cares really.
My artistic tastes, or inspirations perhaps? As for inspirations my answer would have to be- who could say? Even if you are lucky or unlucky enough to know yourself so well as to know to a certainty what it is that inspires you, few people you would or could ever meet would or could, without lying, be able to say the same for themselves.
Artistic tastes are another matter altogether, I'd say they're rather random for me. Mind you 'random' and not a 'wide-variety' as many salesmen would like to claim. There is far too much out there for one to be able to appreciate even close to even a percentage of it and still have a discernable personality of one's own. I like artists one could call Symbolist or Fantastic of varying time period like Austin Osman Spare, Yoshitaka Amano, Franz Von Stuck, Zdzislaw Beksinski, Jean Delville, or Vania Zouravliov. I like J-Noir artists like Takato Yamamoto, Amano Katan, Ayami Kojima, and the great Suehiro Maruo. I like strange poster artists like Tom Fuckin' Crites. I am not sure what all these names have in common besides the fact that people who watch every superbowl, who try to listen to their teen children's music (these days, who would want to), whose rationality dictates that no one should get a tattoo because it might last a while, would probably die happier without knowing any of the people listed above ever existed.
Thank you Robert Gilmour for inviting me. I've spoken with Aeron Alfrey quite a few times, though not in person, as have I followed the work of some others amongst you. I hope to do so more regularly now. Cheers.

SO MUCH SCANNING.
SO I'VE BEEN SCANNING ENDLESS NUMBERS OF PICTURES FOR MY PERSONAL ARCHIVE.
HERE'S A SELECTION OF WORK FROM THE LAST 10 YEARS. THIS IS MY FAVORITE STUFF THAT ISN'T ALREADY REPLICATED ELSEWHERE. I'M GOING TO ORGANIZE IT A BIT MORE BY THEME LATER.

RIP Captain Beefheart/Don Van Vliet
A big inspiration to me and I'm sure many of you too. My favorite song might be Sue Egypt, I couldnt decide on an album. A real artist, I dont know what more to say other than: for anyone who hasnt heard of him to be prepared for lots of pleasure, weirdness and laughter. I still have a handful of discs to get and I havent listened to him in years.
NOW IN COLOR!!!
Scanning in all of these old pieces, i took a moment to paint some copies of them so i can have prints for sale at my show. As i thought, going over all this old work has brought about another artistic shift in me, which is a return to "drawerly" drawing and using watercolors for color and putting the markers away for a bit. Not too long though, cos i've got this videogame which is entirely in marker style that needs finishing and promotional art. This series of pieces is essentially articulating the world i wanted to live in at the time. At this point, it would look a little different, maybe be more chaotic, but essentially the same. I would love to have coffee every day in a place like the Hungaria.

The Future City
I've been scanning in heaps of old work and finding some great stuff. Here's some pieces from 2007 i think.
These are all from my work on developing concepts of the future city, which is firmly rooted in tradition and using unorthodox forms and objects for building design. I was also exploring the idea of the civilized person as sausage, and trying to be okay with that idea, which I am now.
