Three Cthulhus

These are very nicely done. The tentacles especially. Very nice. However, i always feel that with these old gods, they need the weirdness & distortion amped up, because they should be visually non-understandable. You know? I think this would look especially cool in your style, because you are such a clear renderer...

Thanks, Sean. I see what you mean re:distortion, and I completely agree with you on the nature of the Lovecraftian deities. Nevertheless, what I was going for in these doodles was not that sense of madness. They're more just about playing around with the physiognomy of Cthulhu. I'm fully aware that these portraits don't do justice to what the character actually represents, but as I pointed out elsewhere on this blog I'm not convinced that's even possible in imagery.
Anyway, if I do any more of these I might actually take you up on your challenge.

I like how these particular Cthulus look like-"Yeah, i'm gonna send your immortal soul ripping down an spiraling void of what madness is but a pale shadow, do you want your ass kicked with that?!"- Cthulus steal others Gods lunchmoney.

Did you do these with the Wacom at all Fufu?

David - Cthulhu tells me to say THANKS!
Luke - Nah, just old-fashioned brush drawings in my sketchbook.
I put together a collection of Cthulhu portraits here:

Fufu, I really enjoy your take on these Lovecraft characters, your slick illustration style really fits well into this stuff. Are you planning on covering all the main Lovecraft abominations? You've likely done your own research on this matter but here's a page with solid descriptions for any of the beasts you possibly haven't covered yet.. http://www.hplovecraft.com/creation/bestiary.asp

And I'd love to see you market these into a series of prints, maybe sell sets in some kind of Necronomicon like box??
