Yee Haw!

Ok, so here we have a really cool young Hillbilly Band that plays their own take on old-timey music and such. I have been a fan for years and asked if I could do a poster for them. Notice the banjo and other things the critters are playing.

Excellent poster, Chris. It reflects some of the whimsy/acid frenzy imagery of the 70's rock posters.

Yeah, I love that crap. Thanks man, I had a lot of fun doing it and I was thinking about that when I did it, less as an influence but more as a realization of connections. Glad you dig it!

Fuckin' ace! someone should lock you in a padded studio 'til you do a colour version of this....

Thanks Zeke. I really had fun. I always struggle with color on these but I could do a digital version of some of these things. I wish they had printed a color poster.

Think it'd look amazing if you coloured it using the technique you used in your sketchbook work, was that watercolour?
I love how the different colours blend in those pieces, much more exciting than flat digi-bore colours!

thanks. I love the watercolor thing. It's funny but I have a hard time doing colors well because I want to use all of them rather than choosing a color scheme. I may do some of that in the future. We will see.

hey weren`t you in that Narrative Corpse thing? I think I went after you, what happened to that?

Yeah, I was in that thing. Who the heck knows man, I never felt like anyone had a clue about it. The person moderating it knew the orders but the participants just sent their thing in. I wished it could have been printed rather than just floating around. This one I really liked what I did and would like to see it done.

Jon, you can see the whole thing here:

Yeah it's a pity it never got printed. Cheese Hasselberger was going to but one or two of the contributors never sent him their hirez images.
Or were you talking about the second one? I think that one's still going on actually.

Oh, and Chris: awesome poster!

I've seen the second one, or rather what's been turned in so far, and it is looking awesome.

are they printing it?

Great stuff!

I don't think any specific plans have been made for the printing of the second Corpse. I think the plan was to wait until the book was finished before deciding on the next phase of releasing it. But with names like Mat Brinkman, Hans Rickheit, Matt Furie, Tobias Tak, Jeff Soto, Ben (Monster Parade) Catmull and possibly one half of the Kipper Kids, I think that more than warrants putting this thing on a comic book store shelf or at least selling copies online.

At the very least I want physical copies of this available at a handful of the better comic shops like Chicago Comics, Quimbies, etc.
