Yeah, wow, awesome! No wonder you said it would take you ages... It looks like the map of a completely insane computergame world where you start at the way bottom and have to fight/run/jump your way to the way top. The amout of detail makes it easy to mentally zoom in and image running around in this chaos as a tiny sprite. Really really cool. My only (really minor)crit would be that it looks a bit cut off at the bottom IMO.
Amazing work, Robert. The white root thing growing out of the character's head has a great violent vibe about it, as if someone slashed a butcher knife into the drawing. Love it. All those tiny details are incredible. Do you mind me doing a Monster Brains post for your new blog? With a handful, 3 or 4 pics included?
I wasnt going to talk about this drawing since I could go on forever about it, but since Human Mollusk raised a valid point about it looking cut off,,, I'll tell you that all the flaws in this drawing are due to the unusual amount of improvisation I did. I kept having to change parts because I thought "That looks like it will be boring to draw,, so I'll have to change it if I'm going to make all this time spent worthwhile". So that set off a chain reaction of problems. Something I will never stop needing to learn is "plan more in your mind and in pencil before even touching with ink at all". But it was difficult to plan this in pencil because the faint pencil lines were just wriggling everywhere and it became hard to make sense of. I could make another 10 drawings based on the things I never got to do properly on this one.
You could always do a left and right side panel to drag out the composition in each direction. Could be fun to have a sort of sloped landscape of imagery dropping down in each direction with trees or whatever bizarre structural things popping up against the white background.
It is A4 paper. The little house on the bottom left you mentioned was going to have a naked organ player in it, which is why there was pipes left on the roof. I will probably use this in another drawing.
This drawing was actually inspired by a Mighty Max toy called "The Hand".
Also, what kind of pens do you use? It always looks like a drying-out fine tip marker that you just work the bejesus out of. Or ball-point... i can't tell.

This is the best drawing I've seen you do, imo. It's really fucking great Robert. Be proud.

I like it just how it is.
I keep looking this one over. That outhouse-like building on the bottom left is perfect...
What size is this one, Robert?
I want a print.
