Back of a Drawing

I took this picture of a back of a drawing of mine before it had to leave for the collection of a young man. I abandoned the drawing you can see and drew on the other side. Also you can see that I pasted scraps of paper to fill gaps that I had cut on the other side to correct things I didn't like. 

A Son of Kyuss

  This is a drawing from my sketchbook that, until today, I had only posted on Facebook, I think. It's not much, but it certainly exposed me to a lot of really disgusting maggot-embedded reference material. One video, in particular. I know about the Sons of Kyuss from the Fiend Folio. As far as I know, and I could be wrong, they were made up for that book, or they were in a previous D & D campaign and were therefore included. As I recall, they attacked you in hordes (something creepy about masses of undead children rushing towards you) and the maggots could leap from their heads and eye sockets at you.

Book Illustrations

   Hey everybody.  Thanks for inviting me to post, and thanks to Marcel for advocating for me.  He and I used to exchange mail-art and zines back in the 90s.  I'm primarily an illustrator, but I've worked in a lot of different mediums, including some animation for MTV.
    Here's the first two illustrations for a book by the notorious bizzaro fiction writer Tom Bradley.  I've done several book covers for him, and now I'm illustrating his latest.  The book will be published by Mandrake of Oxford next spring.

And here's the cover I did for 'Epigonesia' by Tom and Kane Faucher.  How many famous dead writers can you identify?  (Actually, I think Bukowski might still be alive.)

Hey there

I haven't got a pen or whatever since few weeks, and my scrapboard stock is short, then I'm trying to do somekind of comic with brush and rough style. I really don't know if it's really bad or not. I like scraperboard cause I can do something fast, detailed & kind of clear. With the brush the surface is quickly full, details are disappearing, so the story i'm telling is also really different. But I think, ok let's do that to the end to see what's comes out

I'm interested in body-art for a while. There are several reasons. I still have a wish to became a tattoo artist someday and drawing on body gives a chance to get closer to that, even knowing these don't last long, even if I draw with permanent markers (it might be unhealthy, some says, but it's really handy to do precise lines, so if people don't mind - I use them). On the other hand, it's interesting how human skin is both similar and different at the same moment from canvas or paper. It has this volume that let's you play with composition, since body-parts can spin and move, so there are unlimited amount of design variations available. And also, while working the connection between me and a model is built, it needs to have confidence in between, specially while drawing on naked body. It's kind of intimate process. What else I could say is that, it feels really flattering to see my art on other person's body, I think body-art also gives a great opportunity for other person to pay more attention/to feel art more deeply, since a person always are prone to look closely what she/he has on herself/himself. So it's like win-win. On the other hand, some friend of mine said, he wishes me to do more body-art on myself instead of having more real tattoos, because 'you can change it whenever you want. never stop changing'. this might sound cheeky a bit, but still nicely said.

I JUST FINISHED UP THE ART FOR HELLSHIRE III. WEIRDLY, HELLSHIRE II WAS TAINTED & DID NOT RECEIVE WONDERFUL REVIEWS. FOR THE TRIUMPHANT THIRD INSTALLMENT OF THIS BARREL-AGED BEER I USED ALL OF MY TRICKS & DETAILED WHAT IS OUTSIDE OF THE HELLSHIRE HOUSE, AS SEEN FROM THE BACK DOOR. IN THE FOREGROUND ARE SOME OF THE HELLISH MINIONS OF THE HELLSHIRE ESTATE HAVING A PARTY.

My post of two weeks ago is an excerpt from a comic for Zone 5300 magazine, which has been around since 1995. I have been involved since the start. Happy to do a cover design this time. The line art is in scraperboard, the colours were done in Photoshop and might change a little before it all goes to print.

I'm mostly concentrated on my way of doing strokes than what the drawing really means
I really enjoy playing with different pen sizes (and their usury) to create three-dimensional effect

Nile's New Album

Not only amazing sounding -Nile is in my top 3 metal bands, up there with Vader and Satyricon- but the art and the vinyl packaging that I just bought is awesome. Maybe my only pet peeve with the art (even though I'm loving it) is that for someone like me who is well versed in Egyptian art, I can easily pick out the collage elements- like the bust of Nefertiti which brings out the fact  that this is clearly a digital image. But other than that its hands down great stuff.

Zoltan, Hound of Dracula

I saw this last night and as someone who finds dogs making angry faces hilarious, I enjoyed it despite the boring scenes of humans acting. The scenes with vampire dogs hypnotising other dogs and humans with their glowing eyes were brilliant. Remake this and then make the next superhero blockbuster a Krypto the Superdog and Streaky the Supercat movie.

"The Day of the Revenants" - the first zombie film ever

This long lost masterpiece of early cinematography for decades existed only as a myth of the movie industry, until it was finally rediscovered in 1995 inside a hidden screening room of Erich Honecker's mansion in East Germany, the former German Democratic Republic.The movie was probably filmed in 1909 but was immediately censored and confiscated. It's only existing copy was taken to France as loot during the chaotic period of the German Empire's collapse some time towards the end of World War one. 

When Paris was later occupied by the Nazis it was returned to its country of origin. Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels himself called it a "höchst entartet" (extremely degenerate) work of art. However, after Germany's defeat it was found by Soviet troops in his own private film collection. After that, the Iron Curtain concealed the further history of this unique production.

When it finally resurfaced in '95, unlike today, nobody really cared much about zombie films. The great zombie wave of the 80s was long gone and so only a few diehard fans, a couple of art students in Nuremberg, Bavaria took up the arduous task of restaurating and remastering the by then severely damaged material. It was screened on a handful of film festivals and raised a few eyebrows, but then it disappeared once more... until now.

At last, film history will have to be rewritten!

Sometimes I just need to decompress. The work then usually becomes very raw and immediate, and not complex.  I suppose it's only natural anyone can get exhausted with working on a single piece of art for an extended time.

outermost "C.U.D.L. 2/life as" cd-r released by [&] of matjaz galicic (who also did abnormal tapes) this cd-r contains 2 previously unreleased tracks by kei yokota AKA outermost from 2001. outermost was one of the first noise projects i discovered (a track on radio centraal) somewhere in the early '90s. apparantly he is no longer active in noise. matjaz.galicic@gmail.com

A golden oldie which was done together with my fellow countryman Matthias Giesen in 1996, for my anthology "Thank god it's Ugly", which was active until 2002. My pal did the pencils, I did the inking and the zip-a-tone. Actually, I miss those zip-a-tone days, and analogue printing. How about you, guys?
