Nothing says Merry Christmas like a video of Donald Sutherland head slamming a cat to death while explaining how to rid the world of the red menace!

In Progress Ghoul Head

Here's an updated in progress version.

Here's an early build of a ghoul head I'm working on. Features might get pulled further to the center vs the tilted perspective it stands at. Will have glowing white eyes, color, and end up being an 18 x 18 inch print.

Also, you've got to read this awesome criticism of my artwork..

" any woman you bring home will immediately be creeped out and leave after seeing any of them. You couldn’t pay me 10 times what they cost to even have them sitting in a tube at my home, let alone up on my wall. My wife would divorce me as soon as she looked in the poster tube.

On a more positive thought, these are great for any serial killers on your holiday wish list. I can’t even imagine how horrible the artist’s childhood must have been. It’s been a pretty slow week for releases, but come on. I have to delete my browser history so my kids don’t see this and doing so is going to make my wife ask uncomfortable questions about why I did. The world would be a much better place if these were never created.

Can’t wait for his hanger abortion in a bathtub print."

I sometimes forget there are people who like their artwork with happy fluffy clouds and piss on everything else.

Contrasts and stereotypes

Sean in response to my Ayvel piece: """But, where's the conflict? It seems like such a world could get boring after a while, even after getting my bottom cleaned out by plants."""

I assume you are talking about the safe inner 3/4 of the planet rather than the terror lands of the outer 1/4? I've thought about this quite a bit before,, it is always said that reality needs extremely good things and extremely bad things to make a contrast to really enjoy the good times properly,, but in a place like the safe 3/4 of Ayvel,, they are bound to find some interest in the variety of strange things there are to discover,, everyone would be interested in discovery, it would be like a National Geographic/Discovery/David Attenborough culture. In that situation you dont sit around wishing there was wars or more racism(( I think war and racism is really boring)),, you'd find and make things to be interested in,, conflicts never disappear even in an ideal world,, minor and abstract conflict would be focused on,, and there will always be conflict in romantic relationships.
There is a different type of contrast to the starving people in Africa. We see them in charity adverts and imagine how harrowing it must be,, but since starvation and poverty have been their whole life, they will suffer in a different way than we imagine. There could be really horrible planets where the suffering of Earth seems boring and minor.
But if you really wanted the obvious conflicts, you could travel to the outer edge of Ayvel and get chased by monsters if that was what gave you your kicks. But you would risk being scared to death more than being ripped to death.

I generally dislike stereotypes, but when people demonize everything connected to prejudice, we lose a proper understanding of history and therefor cannot move forward as well as we could have. I imagine someday Hard Gay will be seen as a horrible character only enjoyed by evil homophobic people. I also quite like the Fu-Manchu/Claw/Yellow Claw stereotype, I'm not sure why that stereotype is not seen as being as horribly racist as many familiar black stereotypes,, perhaps because Fu-Manchu is really cool and the type of character you could fantasize about being him.
Prejudice has a labyrinth-like complexity and I hate to see people simplify it in their crusade against prejudice,, because they undermine their own work in simplifying it too much. I recently told a friend of mine that the first time I saw him, I felt what I guessed was split-second feelings of involuntary racism. But I dont know for sure. He didnt care at all.
Sometimes if I see a black guy and take an immediate dislike to him, I ask "am I being racist?" rather than considering many other possibilities. At the end of the day, I guess it really only matters what the rational part of your mind thinks.

...Anyway,, I think Hard Gay is hilarious, I've watched this about ten times and it is mostly what he says that is so funny. Stop it around 2:30, because the music annoyingly takes over...

There is a small tradition of very homoerotic games from Japan,, and people often make fun of them and say nasty things about this being the worst stuff to come out of Japan. But to my eyes, these games are 100 times more inspired than the bland design in most popular games. How often do you see this level of imagination exploding? In an age when artists are dying to be odd and failing miserably in the most self-conscious way,, games like Muscle March seem all the more incredible.
Muscle March...

Cho Aniki is not supposed to be that great a game, but the visuals have always been incredible. Here is a 3 page article about the series with great pictures , here is the game with the funniest imagery of the series, like Terry Gilliam animations...

Ha! I found my 2 oldest inks

These are the first inks I ever made. I think they're around 6-7 years old. I know there should be a third one but I can't find it. Anyway it's kinda fun looking at them now. If memory serves, when i did those I was very into oils and photo shop at the time. I would have never guessed I would end up doing ink.

More Demons & Devils for Labyrinth Lord.

Dungeons & Dragons could get very weird what with journeying through hell & the planes & everything. Here's more of my demons & devils for Labyrinth Lord.
Nalfeshnee: Nalfeshnees are enormous demons that judge new souls arriving on the Abyss.
nalfeshnee
Marilith: THe Marilith are cruel & cunning demons that love battle.
Marilith
Ice: The frigid eighth plane of Hell is populated in the main with ice devils. Being greater devils, they have personal names.
ice
Pit Fiend: Lord of devils, with great strength and deadly power.
pitfiend
Hezrou: Hezrous are obedient demons who are eager to serve more powerful demons and summoners.
hezrou
Orcus: Orcus is a very old demon. Like many of the most powerful demon lords who struggle for power in the Abyss, Orcus started his existence as a mortal on the Prime Plane. He was apparently a wicked spellcaster of some sort, most probably a priest to some dark deity. After his death, his soul, like the souls of all chaotic evil mortals, went to the Abyss and Orcus began his afterlife as a lowly larva. Orcus proceeded to climb through the demonic ranks in the next several thousand years, going from larva to mane, from mane to dretch, from dretch to rutterkin, from rutterkin to vrock, from vrock to glabrezu, from glabrezu to nalfeshnee and eventually a balor. From there, he ascended to the rank of demon lord, becoming the Prince of the Undead and ruling the layer of Thanatos, the Belly of Death. Even though there are other demon lords aspiring to the title of "Prince of the Undead", Orcus' claim to the title has gone unchallenged for the most part. Ever hungry for more power, Orcus wanted to be recognized as "Prince of Demons", a title held by Demogorgon and coveted also by Graz'zt. As a result, he became the arch-enemy of both demon lords. In time, Orcus also achieved true godhood.

Toys, Posters, Gorillas and Stuff!

I'd be screaming too if someone folded my face in half.

At least he can still hold his smokes.

One of my coolest childhood memories is playing with this thing while watching Krull.

Eaten By Gorillas

I still have that fire demon somewhere.

I don't know what Dracula is doing but I'd like to think he decapitated one of his victims, shot laser beams at it to make the skull inflate, then turned it into a jungle gym to hang out in.

This abomination is a sad reminder of what happens when you leave horny chickens and horses in a locked room overnight.

If only the entire movie was just the family screaming, driving 100 miles an hour down a highway while insane demons chased them with a giant chainsaw. I could probably sit through three hours of that.

That's what dragons see when they smoke really good weed.

It looks intimidating until you hear the disco music blaring out of the top floor.

There are good ideas, there are really good ideas and then there are really fucking good ideas, I think you know which one this falls under.

Look out!!! Chocolate Chip Charlie's blowin chunks!!!

My first text piece

In a way this is the most important piece of work I have ever done. I got the idea to build my own fictional world when I was about 15 or 16 and I've been developing this introduction piece since all that time and I think it is ready now. This introduces and explains the world in which all my stories and art take place in, so if I ever got something printed, this would appear at the start.
The idea was to create an ideal place to live in and suits all my desires. I wouldnt really like to have all the monsters in the world, but I needed to include places to explore my horror fantasies.
Since I've grown up in the time and place that I did, I often see the chance to explore issues, there are many opportunities to do so, since I have ideals and a fascination with certain minorities in my work. But I need to avoid all that, because I'm just not the sort of artist who does "issues". I've fallen into that trap a few times and I shouldnt have because this made-up world is about me having fun and being free from all my concerns about Earth and the issues that give me headaches. This is where I go to have a good time and I'd rather not bog the audience and myself down with all my worries. That would ruin the whole thing. You are supposed to be almost oblivious to Earth, although there are a huge amount of similarities.
Until 2 weeks ago, I'd always imagined this as a short comic story, but when I started to do it,, it just didnt feel right, so I made it a text piece. Over time you will see proper visualisations of these places,, so this piece is all about giving you a sense of what it might be like to live in this world, outlining all the most important things...

AYVEL = RAG NOV 09

Ayvel is an eternally safe planet in an eternally safe universe. Ayvel is a flat platform instead of a more common sphere planet. Ayvel is 8 times the size of a normal solar system. Water falls over the edges of this platform planet, water falling seemingly forever downwards a length that no normal person could imagine. If you fly to the outer edges of Ayvel, you will see hundreds of sea monsters and a few boats flailing down the waterfall.

Three quarters of Ayvel is quiet fields, forests, mountains and lakes. Simple, completely safe, no dangers or annoyances, just perfect quiet peace. Vast spaces between each home. The homeless live a happy comfortable life sleeping in the fields, eating an astonishing variety of food from plants and trees, clean water in streams everywhere.
There are billions and billions of miles of empty fields owned by no-one. Even people with houses often like to sleep out in the fields and forests without any fear of anything happening to them.

The remaining quarter of Ayvel is on the outer edge surrounding the safe part. This portion can be fairly safe in certain places, but most of it is nightmarish uninhabitable terror lands without any sunlight at any time.

Ayvel is covered all over with an incredible variation of life and landscapes. There are millions of castles the size of large countries, lots of tiny castles everywhere too. There are mysterious places where reality distorts into something with different rules, misty foggy cloudy places made of bliss dreams, soaring emotions and wish fulfilment. There are also mysterious places where reality distorts into something terrible.

There are pockets and portals of different dimensions and realities. Special people create new realities and planets all the time. Planets float and fly around and planets within planets with their own suns and moons. Ayvel has millions of suns and moons of all different types moving around creating different amounts of light for different places. People like to go up on flying moons and ride them, some werewolves even chain themselves to moons so they don’t have to turn back into humans.

There are cloudlands in the sky, mostly home to winged people. All sorts of buildings, boats, castles and floating islands are up in the sky too.

In the most advanced areas of Ayvel they have shapeshifting solid gas houses than can stay on ground, high in the sky or even underwater. They can change shape, size, colour, transparency, heat, light and smell. The gas morphs when instructed to. They can also be used as transport.
Some people decorate these morphing houses with trees, plants and pools of water. Fish owners like to put their water and fish between layers solid gas walls and make some of the walls transparent, so the house looks like a large fishtank.

Churches and cathedrals are built for getting in touch with the dead, to learn about ghosts, because ghosts are all so confusingly different and complex in their natures. They live by an endless variety of incomprehensible rules completely different from one ghost to the next. People get in contact with ghosts in all sorts of ways.

The variety in animals and humans is also extremely wide, so people and animals never assume too much about anyone or anything they meet. Examples being that intelligent talking dogs socialize with regular dogs and you cant always quickly identify a joyously murderous vampire from a humane friendly vampire.

Humans hold very high moral standards, with minimal prejudices and there has never been any wars or mass conflicts between them. Bad people are very few and far between.
There is no religion, no marriage, no days celebrating anyone or anything, no gift days. Extremely few traditions.

Most people live atleast 200 years, the health is very good. Strong teeth, elbows, ankles, heels and backs. No mouth ulcers, no toothache, no aids, no cancer, no arthritis, no contagious diseases or viruses.
Nostrils and throats never have mucus, nostrils are permanently dry, breezy and clean.

There are hundreds of types of plants that drink urine and eat faeces. They go up your anus and clean it out completely. These plants are everywhere in all shapes and sizes.

new ink "The Dead"

I was actually working on another ink, but after my hospital experience, this one kinda popped out. It kinda took forever though. I have at least 5 more in this style that I want to do. Then with the coming of the new year, I'm hoping to start a whole new series- which should be quite different in my approach.

Devils: Bone & Lemure

I'm doing a whole bunch of devils & demons for Labyrinth Lord by Goblinoid Games. This is a job i decided i wanted when i was a kid, but only recently actually put it into the wind that i was ready to do it. Literally two months after expressing my will to draw for role playing games this opportunity popped up.
Bone devils hate all other creatures and attack ruthlessly. They freely use wall of ice to keep the enemy divided.
Bone for Labyrinth Lord
Lemures are among the weakest devils. Man-sized blobs of molten stinking flesh, lemures are the shock troops and laborers of the devils. The most selfish, cruel, and evil mortals that die and come to Hell become lemures. Their soft bodies regenerate quickly, making them convenient victims of torture for the devils. A lemure is about as tough as a typical human zombie.

Monsters, Nazi Demons and Surrealists.

Artwork inspired by Stephen King's "The Mist" published in "Knowing Darkness, Artists Inspired By Stephen King" from Centipede Press this month.

I am doing a limited edition signed and numbered print run of 100 for The Mist priced at 250 US dollars. The size of the print is 36 x 24 inches with no border space. Paper type will be determined in the next two days as I go to the shop to decide, but will be of archival quality, as will the ink.

Inspired by the nazi demons from the nightmare sequence in "An American Werewolf In London." Artwork published in Electric Ant #2, get it here.

Artwork created for Craig Yoe's "Arf Forum" published by Fantagraphics Books in 2007. This surreal portrait of Ernst accompanied a selection of his collages from Une Semaine de Bonté.

I made this until I get a real website put together.

The Book of Struxus

EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT CARBON MARROW #3
(BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK)
