FOR FALSE MEAT & MONEY!

I arrived home from work last night & was greeted with this amazing bounty! It's quite out of control. Why had all of this arrived? I did some work for the Tofurky people, doing promotional cartoons for their new foot long tofurky dogs. I was vegan for eight years or something, for philosophical reasons, but my philosophical reasoning has really changed since that period of time. However, i taught myself to cook in the vegan style & am quite good at it, & i rather like alot of these futuristic false meats. They are no substitute for actual meat though, they've got to be judged on their own merit. I still am quite opposed to the factory farm & the poor treatment of animals, but i also buy things made in China. It's all too complicated to just cling to some sort of puritanical ideology. No matter how much i might like some sort of cure-all ideology, they just don't exist!

Here's to complexity!

Ah, speaking of which, i hear that a bunch of UN scientists have declared that Global Warming is all our fault. I'm still totally on the fence about this. On one hand, it's fairly obvious to me that burning stuff, especially oil held by lunatic Anglo & Arab crime families, in order to create energy is not the best way to make energy, therefore, we should try & create energy in other ways. Especially more decentralized ways. I also don't like the passe suburban car culture & especially the hideous design of said cars. Driving everywhere is obviously inefficient & detrimental to social cohesion. On the other hand, the weather doesn't seem any different to me & i haven't seen the reported effects of global warming with my own eyes. What i'm centrally concerned about is this issue being used to implement a bunch of new state control measures & New World Order scariness.

"In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy, then, is humanity itself." ~"The First Global Revolution" the Club of Rome. 1991

What is fairly obvious to me is that the change in public thinking on the environment has been sold very heavily for the last 30 years. At the same time, public consumption has gone up, instead of going down, even as people are now "more concerned" over the environment than ever. It just doesn't add up to me. It seems like a Trojan Horse, even if it is real.

Very nice illustration, Sean.
Though I've never been a vegan, I myself have been a lacto-ovo-vegetarian for about 17 years now. I know that's a bit inconsequent, but as you say, things are complex.

Re: global warming. Where I live the weather has changed noticeably over the last ten years or so, and especially in the last three. That said, anecdotal evidence is not what really matters. From what I've read the overwhelming majority of the meteorologists all over the world agree on the fact that the climate is getting warmer. What they now argue about is what the reason for that change is. And here it's not simply "a bunch of UN scientists" but more likely the larger part of the scientific community who think it's caused by humanity.
I don't know, but to me i seems like a no-brainer that if you realease the carbondioxide that has been stored in incredible amounts under the earth for tens and hundreds of million years all within on or two centuries and at an increasing rate while simultaneosly reducing plantlife which can absorb it... what do think is gonna happen?
The question is not so much why is every one talking about it now, the question is why have the industrialized nations never done anything serious against it? Don't get me wrong, I can easily imagine power elites using the current hype for political gain, just like the peak oil phenomenon, and perhaps distort the facts to do so. But to me global warming is just one of the problems which have been blatantly obvious at least since the 80s, like the exponential population growth or the destruction of the tropical rainforest. We've denied it for a few decades and now it's become so evident that even industrial puppets like Bush can't ignore it.

I agree with you about dumping the co2 into the atmosphere & the raizing of forests. I suppose what still worries me is who controls such mass movements. I also question people's ability to actually observe reality for what it is, without having media manipulation coloring their opinions. As far as the scientists go, it also comes down to an issue of trust, i just don't trust them! I especially don't trust the UN. I suppose for me, i'm very much a conservationist, but i don't like the large trendy buy in to these sorts of things.

Great illustrations, it's got a great 70's advertisment vibe about it. Just needs some disco text with flowing yellow lines to accompany it.

Global Warming is the Tojan horse for Global Government. Wether it's true or not, it's being used as a way to centralize even further. People like Al Gore don't publicly proclaim that their 'solution' involves a Global Tax ( who can enforce/collect this , if i isn't a central/global body?), which , of course, has nothing to do with stopping global warming.
And, what mainstream science medias don't often talk about; the temperature patterns on other planets in our solar system , other moons, etc. are changing, with relatively short periods of higher than average heat.
I don't know the hard science, but many believe that the Sun itself is giving off more heat.
But, yeah, let's use different forms of fuel, find cleaner energy.Let's not join in some Global policing effort to do this.

I try my best to recycle and I won't drive a car until we get something cleaner which is taking a preposterously long time. We're fucked and I know that but I can pretend can't I?

My goal is to put the breaks on hysteria & coersion & encourage people to take practical, personal steps.
