Creepy Critters

I finished a huge series of ink drawings I've been working on for almost a year. I passed one thousand so I reached my goal. The idea was to just brain storm a vast number of insane creatures then get them on paper. The lower left one in the picture above was inspired by this.

They really are great monsters. Ever since I first saw these drawings, they reminded me of something that could be found in an ancient occult tome. Hey!...you mentioned old art from when you were a kid. I too have lots of the art I did as a little kid through highschool. I started posting some of it on my Flickr page last year:

When you do get some scans together, It would be cool to see some of these works. Maybe you could post them here at EBD and possibly start a kid-art thread...

Hieroglyphics and Japanese / Chinese symbols were a huge inspiration for how I was going about the inking. Almost an alphabet of lifeforms. I was trying to keep it simple like that, but add in enough detail that you knew what you're looking at. I made over one thousand of these so I had to keep pulling myself back from spending too long on any one of them. I managed to keep it at around 10 - 15 minutes per drawing from start to finish, but that still amounted to a lot of time to complete all of them.

I'll have to scan in some of my older artwork sometime soon and do a post on it.

I like the one with the 7 faces best.

These are just fantastic Aeron. I'm working on a similar, yet different series of just plain old characters.

Congrats Aeron on reaching the 1000's, you're such a "Can-Do" weirdo!

you should post all 1000 of 'em on a single page, even if takes hours to download it would be great to just get dissoriented scrolling a page that's digitally meters long.

Thanks, and I'm actually working on a flickr page right now where I'll be selling all of the sob's. But yes, a full view of these altogether on a seemingly never ending page would be fun. They are all going to be appearing in the Fantagraphics Beast Book 2 although microscopic in size and in color.
