Meet the Ambassadors

Some Aliens I drew just for fun.

Also, digging further into my past, I found these two drawings I did when I was about 3 and 5 years old, which struck me as weirdly similar...

Finally, the Melvins, one of my favorite bands, toured my town last week promoting their new album, which I actually like less than their previous more experimental ones. The concert was brilliant though. They also have a new video which you can watch on youtube. It was obviously done with a rather small budget but it's cool and it's got all the weird shit in it we love so dearly here on EBD:

I love the Melvins too (though there recent stuff does not excite me much, alas.) The drawings from your 3 year old self are somewhat similar ...but your signature is eerily consistent....

Great weird characters, I had a similar experience in stumbling across art I made as a child that looked frighteningly similar to stuff I'd done recently. I think some of these ideas are in our brains from birth and we never stop drawing them.

Man, the similarity is amazing, FUFU!
I visited a freind a while back who I've known since 6th grade or so.She pulled out a drawing I'd done in 7th grade art class; It was a mans' head within a weird mutated looking mass, like the man had been sucked into it.The mans' mouth was open wide , like he's screaming. It was drawn in really crude, heavy black shapes that were meant to convey shadow effects.
I'd completely forgotten about the drawing of course- I was knocked out of joint by the realization that I'm essentially doing exactly the same thing 15 years later, regardless of whatever affectations I've picked up or what I think I'm doing at any given time..

I was heavily influenced in those 1,000 monster drawings I'm doing by a small book of drawings I'd made and stapled together which I'd found a few years back. I must have been around 5 or 6 when I'd made it. There were about 8 pages and each had a hideous looking creature of some kind. One I know for sure was my interpretation of the Masters of the Universe character, Grizzlor. It reminded me of my passion for drawing individual goddamn monsters, so I went to it.

Great stuff fufu! it'd be awesome to have those monster heads as masks,I'd love to see more childhood drawings from people, sadly mine were all thrown away, boo!
