Ride On A Troll

Recent drarering, it's not entirely evident in this one but I'm pushing for a drawing style that will be difficult to tell if it was made recently or 500 years ago.

Noah Berlatsky said...: I just looked at it a little more closely. It doesn't look like it's 500 years old, exactly, but I could see 70 or 80. The details are great (the demons coming out of the horn remind me of some of Art Young's drawing; the hair on the beast is lovely.) The layout and use of white space is pretty straight-forward, but nicely done. It looks almost like it could be a playing card or a tarot design; it has that iconic look. Aeron said...: Thanks, yeah a lot of my drawings have been moving in that old woodcut style so I'm just running with it. I've been studying up on architectural drawings and garden landscapes dated between 15th and 17th century that I plan on emulating a more fantastic approach into and incorporating an array of beasts into soon.

The pen I used for this was an indian ink Faber Castell Pitt artist pen with an S tip. I suggest picking some up of varying tip sizes, they work really great.; March 7, 2007 at 12:26 PM
