MUSLIMGAUZE

The music of Bryn Jones aka Muslimgauze was & remains of tremendous influence for me;
if it wasn't for discovering his method of layered analog collage, my pages would probably look very different. Talking to one of our colleagues here recently ( hola Muriel! ) who finds his output equally inspiring, we hit upon the idea of putting together a Muslimgauze tribute anthology.
So, any of you up to that?
We have no money, no publisher yet, so not even any bullshit promises of 'exposure' or such, not a single thing to offer beyond a reaffirmation of what good company we keep here.

Hello! Big Muslimgauze fan here. Especially the early works, such as Flajelata, Coup d'Etat and Blind Horses.

Well. A stellar line-up so far, except for me. Bit thin for an anthology though. Did we misjudge the mancunian’s popularity there?

first heard him around 1990, still hunting the tracks heard then but never succeeded, probably a melted real-dream souvenir! anyway, i love his music too! by the side i'm also part of a work on arabic influences on our overproud europe, so 100% "in the mood"

Staalplaat in berlin got many releases (archives) of muslimgauze, and Guillaume got a good network into graphic field

out of that i am lost to attract peoples interest on the web without worldwide exposure promises but this must speak to there : https://www.cannibalcaniche.com/forum/index.php?action=forum

Well that’s the thing; how can i possibly promise more exposure than the internet, any promise to top that would be hollow, so i didn’t & i won’t. Reality will be something like a POD hardback from my own Maldoracca imprint & accompanying exhibition somewhere ( preferably Manchester perhaps? )
So you’re in?

By the way folks, there is a truckload of Muslimgauze full albums on YT these days. Not so long ago, they were always quickly deleted (probably on behalf of Staalplaat) but that has changed.

Well, four is hardly a crowd, but we can make that work to our advantage i think. Let's each remix the other's contributions once they're done, thus creating several versions of the same'tracks,' much in the spirit of Muslimgauze's method himself....

yes we can make several pieces each, or as you say remixes - we tried that once with virtual friend but failed finding a good system of working, like a neverending process - how could we work out to avoid that ?

i'm not thinking of usual works of mine, but more like collage, so i suggest putting material on framadrop or dropbox so you can download and make change/remix

maybe we need some restriction such as size/format or colors/not colors ?
