Death Rides An Ugly Horse

Here's a t-shirt design I recently made for Unholy, inspired by the death tarot. I think this is going to be made into a promotional poster for the band as well.

Great style this, not sure about the border though, seems a bit cramped. Perhaps it'd be cool with no border and the lettering done in bodyparts with the horse perched on top, kinda like it's stood on a pile of corpses.

Originally the horse was going to be made entirely of corpses, similar to an Arcimboldo painting. But, the details would have been lost in the tshirt printing process, and this was before I knew it was going to be made into a poster. But, I think the physically rotting horse version turned out perfect. The border is a little cramped but I was trying to emulate the design of a tarot card, which regularly have that amount of border space around the image. And the problem with increasing the border size is it decreases the interior image size, which I wanted to keep as big as possible to retain all the gruesome details in the shirt version.

The lettering being done in corpses is a great idea!

Awesome design, Aeron! I like the frame as well. But I think Zeke's right about the typography.

Do you ride horses? You probably know this picture: http://eu.art.com/products/p11721957-sa/posters.htm

Thanks Fufu. And I've ridden a horse once, when I was a child. That's a great work by Durer. I've had the fortune of holding an original engraving by him in my hands at a museum's print room and really REALLY getting to look at the insanely detailed mark makings of one of his works.

The image turned out very nice. I like your collage approach applied to such simple, clear figures, maybe just as a change on occassion, but either way, it turned out cool. The design elements are taking away from it... the crumpled look is particularly bugging me, but not that much!
