Saint Serpentine

This is one from a small series of reliquary pictures showing saints from The Land Of The Moth. The finished version will have a rotted out coffin wooden frame outline. I just started messing around with the overlay option in layers and it is amazing. I can't believe I hadn't explored that effect before. It turns an image into a translucent shadowy underlayer and can create some really brilliant textural effects.

The end tail is a tentacle from an octopus, the mouth is made up from 2 seperate jaws of dead sharks. The hairy extensions on the bottom half of the body come from some weird worm like creature, that scaly surface below the gut wound is actually burned wood. The rib came off some dead animal, the intestinal opening.. that's real. I went crazy with layers so almost all the surface is made up of 3 or 4 different textural pieces blended into each other. And I'll probably go back in and chane a few things, one of which is the tongue extension, I think I'll make that some kind of worm and hopefully the viewer can connect the dots that the shown intestines might be the rest of its body.
