Evolution

OK, so I was getting really bored with my clean line drawings. Not the subjects, just the work and look. I loved the sponaneous quality of using the pen I had used but missed the rich blacks from a brush. So, I decided to try and merge them. I am still working it out but basically, I tried first with a journal page and then with a drawing for a walking zine I am making. I loved it and now am wanting to do tons more. Such a simple addition and yet it seems like I really am excited again. Funny how that works.

I love the concept of the interior organs as spaces for other animals. I was looking at a sculpture recently that showed something similar. Great drawings. You should consider getting some giant sheet of paper 5 or 10 feet long and go crazy with imagery like this.

Yeah Chris, these turned out very nice. The blacks really do work well. I'd love to see them colored with the bold old comic colors to help define some of the shapes upon initial looking, something about the way the business looks on the internet is hard on my eyes or something.

These look great, I loved your old style but the heavier lines here look even better.

Thank you everyone. I am still drawing everything with the old style, I just add the heavy black afterwards. It has reinvigorated my interest in the work. I am now just tryin to figure out how to get work into books, and other options. I am not really into the gallery thing right now and would rather make art and get it out to the public. Sean, you have honestly inspired me to look at my drawings in light of my own kid and my students. How can I be a part of making a visual culture as good as what I grew up with? I am so stoked right now to draw and make crap.
